What is a DPC Doctor — and why does it change everything?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership model where you pay your doctor directly — no insurance middleman, no billing games. A flat monthly fee covers unlimited visits, same-day appointments, and real access to your physician.
- Flat monthly fee — typically $50–$100/month
- Unlimited visits, no copays
- Same-day or next-day appointments
- Pairs perfectly with a health share or high-deductible plan
Before joining, ask these questions:
- ?What is the monthly membership fee?
- ?How many patients does the doctor have?
- ?Can I text or email the doctor directly?
- ?Are same-day appointments available?
- ?Do they dispense medications or offer discounted labs?
- ?Do they work alongside Medicare or health sharing plans?
You are your own first line of defense
No doctor — however good — can out-treat how you live. Sleep, movement, food quality, stress, and relationships are the foundation. DPC works best when you bring effort to the partnership.
- →Track your own vitals — blood pressure, weight, glucose
- →Know your lab numbers and what they mean
- →Bring a list of questions to every appointment
- →Ask “what happens if I do nothing?” before any procedure
- →Research medications before you fill them
- →Get a second opinion on anything that doesn’t feel right

GeoBlue Travel Insurance
BCBS-backed global health coverage for travelers, expats, and frequent international visitors. Covers emergency care, hospitalization, and medical evacuation anywhere in the world. Especially valuable for snowbirds spending extended time outside the US.
GeoBlue Travel Insurance →Why Travel Insurance Matters With an HMO
HMO plans only pay in-network. If you’re at a cabin in northern Minnesota, traveling through other states, or spending the winter in Florida — your HMO may not cover anything. Travel insurance fills that gap and gets you back to in-network care without a massive bill.
